A TEENAGE busker was assaulted and had money taken while performing in Dorchester.

Police investigating the reported assault and theft incident are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers said at around 2.08pm on Saturday, December 9 a man was busking in South Street when it is reported that another man approached him, grabbed his arm and took a quantity of money before depositing it in the collector tin belonging to another busker.

The reported victim – a local teenage man – was uninjured.

A 41-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation.

PC Shane Hewitt, of Dorchester police, said: “I believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the reported incident and I would ask these people to please contact Dorset Police as they may be able to assist with my investigation.”
