A leading disability charity has been picked as chosen charity of the year by a Dorset ice cream company.
Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, has been chosen as charity of the year by Purbeck Ice Cream for a second year running. In 2017, Purbeck Ice Cream provided over £3,000 worth of free ice cream to the charity, which was enjoyed by the children and adults that are supported across its services as well as the care staff.
Purbeck Ice Cream raised over £500 for the charity over the course of the year at its farm in Wareham. As part of the second-year partnership, Diverse Abilities will continue to receive tubs of ice cream across its services for children and adults with disabilities, their siblings and families to enjoy all year through.
Staff at the charity will also be able to enjoy the ice cream in exchange for a donation. For those with complex disabilities, who can’t eat orally, it provides a sensory experience of tasting and smelling different flavours and feeling cold in the mouth.
