Emergency services were called after a man fell off a cliff and into the sea at Old Harry Rocks, Studland.

A coastguard team from Portland, lifeboat and fire crews from Swanage as well as ambulance crews and police were called to the scene at 12.15pm.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service said: "We were called to the scene at 12.15pm following reports that a man had fallen from the cliff tops at Old Harry Rocks after receiving a call from South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST).

The spokesman added that the man who was conscious after the fall was transferred to the lifeboat which took him to Sandbanks jetty where he was transferred into the care of SWAST before being transferred to hospital.

It is not known whether he suffered any injuries.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "Dorset Police received call at 12.18pm reporting concern for the welfare of a man in the water at Old Harry Rocks near Studland. Officers attended the scene to assist the coastguard and ambulance service."
