Residents of a Weymouth care home put on their cowboy hats and said “Ye-ha!” at a special country and western evening.

Buxton House care home on Radipole Lane held the event as part of its activities programme.

The evening included themed music, food and dancing. The activities team, who organised the event, dressed in themed outfits including cowboy hats and boots and performed a line dancing routine which was enjoyed by the audience of residents and other staff.

Some of the residents got up and joined in with the line dancing which took them back to their younger years when it was a very popular style of dancing. The residents had fun trying on the different styles of cowboy hat and showing their western talents – one of the residents wowed everyone with a harmonica performance.

Clare Baker, home manager of Buxton House, said: “Residents at Buxton House enjoy a range of regular activities coordinated by our fantastic activities team. The country and western evening was a fun example of some of these activities and the residents are already asking when the next country and western evening will be.”

Residents at Care South’s care homes benefit from wide and varied activities programmes that help to keep them active, engaged and stimulated and prevent loneliness and isolation.
