I read with interest and surprise the article in Monday's Echo May 21 'Nurses from Dubai'.

I have worked in Dubai and I can assure you they do not have a glut of Dubai nationals seeking employment.

In fact the situation is the exact opposite and they have for years relied heavily on recruiting from Third World countries.

The article did say that the nurses recruited from Dubai were not necessarily from Dubai but I suggest that the statement nurses recruited in Dubai will soon be arriving at Dorset County Hospital is a tad uneconomical with the truth and my guess is that most and probably all have been recruited by a Dubai agency from God knows where in the world.

If anyone cares to Google 'Treatment of workforce in Dubai' they may wonder why the Dorset County hospital has gone all the way to recruit our nurses from a country with such a terrible record of the treatment of its foreign workforce or indeed why they felt it necessary to go to Dubai to find a recruitment agency for our nurses in the first place?

Two questions I would like to ask hospital Governor David Tett and Chief executive Patria Miller is, who if anyone from the DCH travelled to Dubai to vet the credentials of these new nurses or did they just rely on the recruitment agency for this information and wait until they arrived here to find out if they are suitable?
