A hunt supporter required hospital treatment after being struck on the head with a handheld device.

The incident occurred at around 3pm on Saturday March 24 in the area of Tarrant Gunville near Blandford.

The victim, a woman aged in her 40s, was walking past a green Land Rover when a man linked to the vehicle struck her over the head with a handheld device, possibly a camera.

The victim sustained a head injury that required hospital treatment.

Police are investigating the incident and have released an image of the suspect.

Police Constable Dave Mullins, of North Dorset police, said: “This assault left the victim with a nasty injury and we have been making ongoing enquiries into this incident.

“We have obtained an image from video footage taken on the day of the man suspected of being responsible and have made efforts to identify him but have so far been unsuccessful. I am now releasing the photo in the hope that someone might be able to identify him.”
