Since the council put on a public meeting to display their planning application to redevelop the harbour peninsula, I have seen no other comment other than people voicing their heavy disagreement with the ideas being put forward.

The council has made no effort to change the plans after the public meeting, which has left many feeling hopeless for the future of this landmark area.

Weyforward teamed up with property developers, technicians and residents to collect up people’s thoughts about the council's plans and gather up alternative ideas that can be proposed.

Some of the ideas include a much larger all-year-round building, steps along the harbour wall and a park area where local bands can play on an open stage.

An idea which is so much more convenient than the council's is to introduce underground parking to the area.

Since the two meetings, Weyforward has been working hard behind-the-scenes to create a planning proposal to go head to head with the council's in an effort to override the ludicrous plans and to let the community decide what should happen.

Whilst there is no solid planning proposal, Weyforward has set up their planning application for people to vote on which will need at least 1,001 votes to succeed.

If they are successful, efforts will be made to ensure the community’s views and ideas are heard and we can all decide what should be built in this potential thriving area.

If you have any objection to the council's plans, or have an idea that you think should be built, then vote for the ‘Community Vision’ by visiting the link below: weymouthvisionvote.yrpri.org/group/1606

Don’t think that it isn’t worth adding a single vote. Every vote counts and you will regret not taking part if we end up with a Premier Inn as our landmark attraction.
