Staff at Dorset County Hospital got to grips with respiratory protective equipment (RPE) fit testing.
The day was all part of a new training programme on respiratory safety at the hospital.
RPE is used to protect the individual wearer against the inhalation of hazardous substances in the air. Fit testing ensures that the equipment selected is suitable for the wearer.
A spokesman for DCH said: “RPE is vital in many different areas of work so it’s vital that the correct equipment is used and people wear it properly. Thanks to Full Support UK for the excellent training for our staff to become fit testers and deliver training back on the wards.”
As it is unlikely that one particular size or type of RPE equipment will fit everyone, fit testing ensures it is suitable for the wearer.
