A sixth person has been arrested in a probe into shots being fired behind a Weymouth supermarket.

Police were alerted to reports of shots being fired – possibly from an air weapon - in Marsh Road near Asda in the early evening on May 22.

There were reports of a number of men seen running from the scene.

A major investigation was launched with areas of the town and properties searched.

A 54-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and released under investigation.

A 32-year-old Portland man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and has been released under investigation.

Two men, aged 19 and 20 and both from Northamptonshire, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent and were released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 21-year-old woman from Northamptonshire was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was released under investigation.

Police have now said a sixth person – a 47-year-old man from Weymouth – has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released under investigation.
