MORE staff at the county’s health commissioning provider are being harassed or bullied at work.

In Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group’s annual NHS staff survey 22 per cent of its staff said that they experienced some form of bullying and harassment from their manager in 2017.

This was an increase from 13 per cent in 2016.

Staff also raised concerns about their training with only 69 per cent of staff saying that they had received training and development, down from 81 per cent in 2016.

Finally, employee engagement saw CCG now being ranked in the bottom twenty of clinical commissioning groups and NHS trusts across England.

Dorset was 55th out of 70 in terms of the engagement score with a ranking of 3.71, down from 3.73 in 2017.

However, employees at the CCG said that they had much more opportunities for flexible working which increased from 59 per cent in 2016 to 68 per cent in 2017.

78 per cent of employees also felt that their role made a difference which increased from 71 per cent in 2016 while 45 per cent of staff said that senior managers acting on their feedback, up from 38 per cent in 2016.

In response to the report, Dorset CCG agreed that further work should be undertaken in understanding the staff survey results and the culture of the organisation.

They added a variety of diagnostics will be carried out between June and August to establish where they were are now in relation to five cultural themes – Vision and Values; Goals and Performance; Support and Compassion; Learning and Innovation and Team Work.

They also stressed that they would roll out a One Day organisational wide workshop called “Understanding and Developing your strengths.”

Under the proposals, the scheme will provide important development in Emotional Intelligence which will contribute to improving the scores in training and development and bullying and harassment that have reduced.

It will also provide the CCG with important diagnostic information on the behaviours and motivations of everyone in the organisation which make up its culture.
