Dorset’s No Excuse road safety team reported two drivers for alleged motoring offences on Saturday.
This included someone speeding on the A35 in Purbeck – the apparent excuse was that they were running late for their son’s football match.
Later, the team spotted a family travelling on Ferry Road, Studland, reportedly with a child being carried on their mother's lap. The mother was travelling as a front seat passenger.
The dad who was driving was reported for the offence of ‘danger of injury to a passenger due to the manner they are carried’. It carries a £100 fine and three penalty points on the licence.
No Excuse is a road safety campaign to reduce the amount of casualties on the roads. It is run by Dorset Police and supported by Dorset Road Safe partners.
The campaign supports the force’s priority to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on Dorset’s roads.
The message going out loud and clear is that there is ‘no excuse’ for bad or careless driving and riding on Dorset’s roads.
The campaign aims to stop drivers from committing any of the 'fatal four’:
*Speed
*Driving whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol
*Failing to wear a seatbelt
*Using a mobile phone/distraction
