TEAMS are being invited to hunt for treasure in an entertaining fundraiser.

The event at the Rendezvous and Royal Oak in Weymouth, takes place on Thursday, August 9 and is in aid of the Merchant Navy Association.

People can enter the treasure hunt in teams for £4 per person, and all proceeds will be donated to the charity. Deputy Manager, Jenna Wells, has also organised an evening of live music, with popular entertainer Karen Melanie Kay, bringing lots of songs and styles to the stage between 4pm and 8pm.

The event comes as part of Jenna’s participation in the ‘Accelerator Programme’, a training course run by managing operator, Stonegate Pub Company. The course, which run over four months, includes a practical component, where participants must organise and produce a fundraiser for a chosen charity.

The programme is designed to give employees the tools to bridge the gap between Deputy Manager and General Manager, through education and dynamic group learning. The course aims to build the participant's confidence, encourage continued independent learning and help them to work together effectively as team.

“The Accelerator Course has, hands down, been one of the most impactful things I have done in my life,” said Jenna. “It has really helped me channel my drive and determination into excelling in my career, as well as helped me become more supportive of my team and my manager at the pub.

“I wanted to support the Merchant Navy Association because many of our regulars are members and I’ve learnt a lot about the amazing work they do. Speaking with them also highlighted to me, how much the charity is in need of funds.

“We’ve got some really exciting things planned for the treasure hunt, but obviously I can’t give too much away! There will be a surprise competition as well – but you’ll have to come along to find out what wild excitement we’ve got in store for our customers.”

Since Jenna has been Deputy Manager at the Rendezvous and Royal Oak, she has helped Manager, Keith Treggiden, steer both venues to win four Gold Best Bar None Awards. The National Accreditation Scheme recognises the responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises, as well as the positive relationships they build with the community, police and local authorities.
