Firefighters were called to tackle another field fire last night (7).
Just after 4pm, two crews from Dorchester and a Land Rover from Maiden Newton were called to reports of a large fire in the open near Grimstone Dairy Farm.
On arrival crews got to work with hose reel jets and beaters, ably assisted by the farmer and some slurry.
Weymouth’s off-road appliance also attended.
It was also a busy evening for the Bere Regis team.
A team was sent to standby at Dorchester whilst they attended the fire at Grimstone. Once crews returned to their home station, they were called - along with crews from Blandford - to a combine harvester on fire.
Luckily for the farmer it was only a small fire caused by cut corn on the engine, crews extinguished using a hose reel jet.
The firefighters were then treated to an ice cream from the farmer.
Following this the crew was then mobilised to alarms in Bere Regis and were later sent to investigate a small of gas in Wool.
