A man who shouted obscenities at police officers after taking drugs has been given a conditional discharge.

Maciej Lawruk, aged 38, of Turton Street, Weymouth, admitted possessing drugs and being drunk and disorderly at Weymouth Magistrates Court.

He was arrested on Saturday, July 7 outside the Actors nightclub in Maiden Street.

Prosecutor Lee Turner, said that police were called at around 2am to the nightclub, and the defendant was clearly intoxicated.

Lawruk told officers he had been taking drugs and produced a wrap containing 1.4g of amphetamine, a controlled class B drug.

Mr Turner added that Lawruk became aggressive after being handcuffed by officers, and started to shout obscenities, which were heard by members of the public nearby.

Mr Turner said that one of the officers thought he was going to be 'violated' by Lawruk.

Karen O’Brien, mitigating, said her client has a hazy memory of what happened, however, he pleaded guilty because he accepts his behaviour that night.

She added the incident has taught him a lesson which is why he’s before the magistrates.

Chairman of the bench, Sara Saunders, said: “For the offences of possessing a controlled class B drug we are making a conditional discharge for 12 months. You are not being punished today however if you commit another offence during the next 12 months you can by punished for today's offence as well as the new offence.”

Lawruk also will have to pay compensation of £82 to the officers.
