I read about the plans for the lights on the Esplanade.

I agree with Cllr Ryan Hope, the council obviously ignored public opinion.

First of all Cllr Cant says this light system will help to revitalise the resort.

What was the thinking behind the laser lights then?

People come to Weymouth because of lots of reasons, but hopefully it’s because it’s a very nice place to be.

Now Cllr Taylor’s opinion that artistic schemes blend well with older towns. That depends on what types of schemes she is talking about; could she give some examples?

Looking at the picture with the new lights, I can’t see how that blends in with the surrounding area.

But, as she stated, she hated the fairy lights, so there was no chance of her listening to anyone else. Then Dinah Ellis makes her points.

The vista of the seafront. Does she really think these type of lights will blend with the seafront more than fairy lights?

I can’t wait to see this.

Finally, I don’t think these councillors are considering the views of most of the people in Weymouth and Portland and, yes, a more modern type of fairy light bulb would be good.

They hopefully do realise that the properties on the front are Georgian and surely lights more in tune with the surroundings is what’s needed.

But they have made there decision let’s wait and see.

As stated we could have fairy lights in the future, I guess if this idea is not good. That really makes sense.
