TWO teenagers died in a road crash at Tout Hill, Bovington.

An 18-year-old man driving a Ford Escort and his female passenger, 17, died at the scene after their car was in collision with a mini bus.

The minibus was carrying Army personnel from the nearby camp and a pregnant woman, all of whom were treated for minor injuries following the crash.

Following the crash, four people were taken to Dorset County Hospital including a 49-year-old man with neck and chest injuries and a 53-year-old man with possible spinal injuries.

A 27-year-old woman with minor injuries and a 27-year-old man were also taken to hospital. Three people at the scene turned down treatment.

Gill Turland, landlady of The Seven Stars Inn, East Burton Road, said some of the Army personnel involved had been due to dine at her pub that evening.

She said she received a call shortly before they were due to arrive saying some of the 20 people due to dine had been involved in the collision.

Rescuers were called to cut casualties from the wreckage of the vehicles. Police said the collision occurred on a sharp bend and Bovington Lane was closed in both directions.

A police spokesman also confirmed they were contacted by the Ministry of Defence at Bovington Camp and three ambulances were called to the scene.

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and a police helicopter also attended.

Following another crash in Bridport, a mother and child were taken to Dorset County Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police said two people had to be cut from the wreckage following the collision, which took place near the Shipton Gorge junction on the A35.

A police spokesman said they are also trying to trace a slow moving tractor that failed to stop after being involved in the Bridport collision, which involved four people in total.

Anyone with information on either collision should contact Dorset Police on 01305 or 01202 222222.
