IT IS surely impossible not to love Russell Howard.

The cheeky, friendly blond comedian from the West Country has carved out his own brand of impish well-meant humour over the years and it still works like a charm.

So much so, that the 39-year-old is so in demand with audiences that he has filled out the BIC’s Windsor Hall not once, not twice, but three times this week.

We were lucky to catch the second of these performances from his Respite world tour last night and he did not disappoint.

Russell bounded onto stage full of energy and had us all laughing within seconds.

Topics varied from making fun of his own lazy eye to considering the ‘interesting times’ we are living in and lamenting the ‘confident vapidity’ in society today.

US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Boris Johnson were, of course, the butt of some jokes.

So too were his family - who still prove to be a mine for comedy gold.

Russell earned his place in the nation’s hearts on TV panel shows and went onto host his own programme, Russell Howard’s Good News.

He still likes to look for the good and the lighter side of life, fighting against the ‘joy thieves’ who take everything too seriously.

"Whenever you can, be light and silly and daft and fun," he said last night, before closing to hearty applause.

As everyone left with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step, tomorrow’s crowd can look forward to a great night in store.
