PROCEEDS were handed over from the best Southill Fireworks display so far.

Jon Gabb, who has organised the event for the past 11 years, presented £1,012 to the beneficiaries from this year's event, St John Ambulance.

More than 3,500 people attended the annual show at Southill. Firefighters were also on hand with displays.

Fundraisers also manned stalls, sold food and refreshments and provided games to raise more money at the not-for-profit event.

Kidz R Us raised £160. Southill Primary School PTA raised £149 and Weymouth North Scout Group collected £152 The total raised on the night was £1,473.38.

Organiser and pyrotechnician Mr Gabb, who hosted the event with Clive Thomas, said: "It went really well. It was the biggest so far and was very successful.

"I can not express enough my sincere thanks to everyone who was involved in some way to make Southill Fireworks event happen. People like sponsors, stewards, helpers, film crews, friends, partner, family, local organisations, Anytime Fireworks crew and of course all the people who attended the event. Without all these people and organisations, my six months of preparation simply could not happen."
