PRENEE Calcut of Mellstock Avenue, Dorchester, was awarded Volunteer/carer of the Year for her selfless work in the community.

Ms Greenwood of Wessex FM said "Renee is a full time carer for her husband Jim who suffers from Polio, she is also the chairman of the Dorchester Disabled Club, organises dinners, functions and outings and also helps her sister who is not well and lives many miles away. Her nominater said Renee shops for a disabled woman every week, works at Dorset County Hospital twice a week visiting the wards and distributing newspapers and confectionery. She visits people in hospital and she has been a wonderful neighbour to a woman who has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis."
