A POUNDBURY company is giving a boost to British soldiers in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dorset Cereals Limited is donating a production run of its Chunky Slices range to troops in the Army's elite Intelligence Corps.
The parcels of cereal bars are being sent by the Singapore Dawnwatchers - Intelligence Corps veterans who served in the Far East in the sixties and seventies. Patrick Horton, managing director, said: "All of us in Dorset Cereals are proud to show our support for all the soldiers currently on active service doing such a dangerous and difficult job.
"We send them our warmest wishes."
Dawnwatcher Tony Byrne, who lives in Dorchester, helped arrange the donation.
He said: "We are delighted with this generous donation and know our soldiers will be very grateful for the gift and by knowing how much they are valued by the staff of Dorset Cereals."
He said the men and women of the Intelligence Corps undertake some of the most difficult and least-reported tasks in the Army.
He added: "This is borne out by recent combat fatalities, which are felt all the more keenly in such a small and close corps."
