BRIDPORT'S Christmas shopping festival was back with a vengeance last night.
The signal to start the ball rolling came from Bridport mayor Geoff Ackerman when he switched on the Christmas tree lights in Bucky Doo Square.
There was plenty to keep shoppers amused, from Santa in his grotto, to a farmers' market in the arts centre.
Other attractions lined up included Bridport Musical Theatre Company, live music at the youth centre, a night market in the Electric Palace cinema and the Bridport Choral Singers.
There were also competitions, quizzes, markets, stalls and late-opening shops.
