A MAJOR Dorset road has been reopened after a van fire caused it to be closed earlier today.
The A30 Yeovil Road was closed both ways from the A352 Horsecastle Road to the BP Garage due to a van fire.
This afternoon, a spokesman for Sherborne Police said: "A30 at traffic lights with the A352 past BP garage closed both ways. Please avoid area if possible as traffic is building up. Thank you to drivers for being patient. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. The road is likely to be closed for a few hours."
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 3.20pm relating to a vehicle fire on the A30 Yeovil Road near Sherborne. Officers attended to assist the fire service.
"Road closures have been put in place while emergency services deal with the incident and recovery for the vehicle is arranged."
The van has now been recovered and the road has been reopened.
