AUCTIONEERS at Dukes of Dorchester are gearing up for a spring vintage clothing sale.

Duke's has held several vintage clothing auctions over the last few years and is hoping that the next one will be just as popular.

Auctioneer Deborah Doyle said: "We are constantly being asked when the next one will be held. The answer to this will be in the spring of 2008.

"Vintage clothing is still in demand, with clients constantly looking for quality clothing that was made to last in fabulous fabrics, detailed trimmings and colours."

She said items are already being accepted for the auction including the one pictured, which dates from around the 1950s and was purchased from a designer retailer in New Bond Street London, the label is still attached. Ms Doyle said: "This dress, made of soft brown-coloured satin, has a full circular skirt with fitted bodice and shoulder straps, which is decorated throughout with black bead work. The dress is in perfect condition and an absolute dream."

Also included in this auction will be shoes, handbags, uniforms and linen of all ages.

Entries are still being accepted for the auction and Dukes urges anyone thinking of selling vintage clothing lines from large collections to call for an appraisal.
