A YELLOW weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for strong winds and heavy rain across Dorset this weekend.

Forecasters are expecting the conditions to be in place on the afternoon of Saturday October 2 and lasting into the evening.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “A spell of strong southerly winds is expected to affect some southern and eastern parts of England during Saturday afternoon and into the evening.

“Gusts are likely to reach 45-55 mph inland with 65 mph possible along exposed coasts.

“Heavy rain will be an additional hazard, with as much as 30-40 mm of rain falling in 3-6 hours in some parts of south and south-east England.”

The Met Office has warned people that delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are all likely, as well as for high-sided vehicles.

They also warn that some short term loss of power is possible.

Coastal routes and sea fronts are likely to be impacted by coast spray over the course of Saturday and flooding on roads may occur.

The warning is in place covering the whole of Dorset, as well as the rest of the South Coast east of the county.

The warning rises along the English coast north to East Anglia.
