If you want to know if somewhere is a good place to live, start with the chip shops.

For the record, Dorset is a fantastic place to live at least according to the Official Guide to the UK’s Quality Fish and Chip Shops 2021.

The county has made the list twice and there's nothing fishy about that.

Representatives from the Fish and Chip industry, the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) and Sarson’s vinegar has analysed chip shops up and down the country and these are the special few that earned the prestigious NFFF Quality accreditation.

On the NFFF Quality Accreditation, Andrew Crook, said "The NFFF Quality Accreditation showcases the leading fish and chip takeaways across the UK, the shops that we all love to buy our fish supper from.

"The NFFF Quality Accreditation assessment is extremely comprehensive. Achieving the NFFF Fish & Chip Quality Accreditation provides reassurance to customers that they are being served delicious food using high-quality ingredients.

"We encourage anyone who loves fish and chips to look out for the 'BIG Q' sign in the shop window.”

According to a YouGov poll, 382 million meals from fish and chip shops are eaten every year in Britain.

Both 'Chips' and 'Fish and Chips' take the top two spots as the nation's most popular meals, outranking even beloved roasts, english breakfasts and bangers and mash.

So, here's a list of the best places in Dorset that can enjoy that classic fish and chip supper.
