EIGHT new jobs have been created as New Look prepares to open its new premises in Weymouth town centre.

The news comes as the popular fashion chain prepares to open at their brand-new store on 6 New Bond Street on Wednesday, June 15.

New Look was forced to exit their previous premises at 1-2 New Bond Street branch in February this year after its former landlord ended the lease early.

To celebrate the opening, New Look will be handing out goody bags to the stores first 50 paying customers.

In addition, customers will receive £10 off any £50 spend and a 20% off voucher for their next visit and to make the opening even more fun, 10 £10 vouchers will be hidden around the store for lucky customers to find.

A spokesperson for New Look said: “We are delighted to be back in Weymouth in our brand-new store on New Bond Street. Our store manager, Kate Chester, will be opening our doors on 15th June at 9.30am. Kate brings with her 28 years’ experience at New Look and has delivered great service to local customers in Weymouth for the last 21 years.

“We cannot wait to welcome shoppers back into store and to celebrate the reopening we are giving our first 50 customers a goody bag, as well as offering £10 off any £50 spend and a 20% off voucher for their next visit.”

In the move, the company transferred two staff from the previous Weymouth store to the new location, which included store manager, Kate Chester. The new shop also has a total of eight new recruits.

An additional five colleagues were transferred from the old premises to the Weymouth Support Centre.

The new premises does mean a downsize for the store. The previous location at 1-2 New Bond Street was 8,830sq ft, with the new site, formally Monsoon, at 6 Bond Street measuring 2,500sq ft.

Part of the fabric of the town, New Look opened its first store in St Mary Street 51 years ago, before moving to its current premises. The chain also has headquarters at Mercery Road and is a major local employer.

It will now return to the town after a planning application was submitted to Dorset Council to erect and illuminated sign featuring black text with white inset faces onto a white backing panel.
