Buckland Newton

THIS Saturday a conservation action day will be held at Alners Gorse Reserve near Hazelbury Bryan.

It will last from 10am - 4pm and if you haven't taken part in one of these days before, the organisers are always happy to see new faces! This is a fabulous area for butterflies and moths in summer, not to mention various birds and this day is helping to produce better habitats.

Refreshments by way of hot drinks and baked potatoes will be provided as usual!

For further information and directions to Alners Gorse please visit www.dorsetbutterflies.com or phone Nigel Spring on 01963 23559.

  • If you would like to support the Joseph Weld Hospice, there is an easy way to do it! Just sow a few extra seeds in your garden, ready in time for the village's annual plant sale on Saturday, April 26. All proceeds will go to JWH.

For further information or if you would like to help in any other way, please call Grace Hunt on 01300 345354.

  • A group of friends and walkers have organised a family crocus walk on Saturday, March 1 to support the UK's leading breast cancer charity.

Please come along, absolutely everyone is welcome! The walk starts at 10am at the Gaggle of Geese and will be approximately 3 miles long.

A shorter route of 2 miles is available as well.

It will finish round about 11.30am, again at The Gaggle of Geese and everyone can enjoy tea or coffee and homemade cakes.

For further information please call Debbie Goodfellow on 01300 345508.
