A new Greggs bakery has opened in a retail park in Weymouth.

The store, which is located next door to Burger King in the Chickerell Link Park development and directly opposite Aldi, is the third of its chain in the town.

While there are also Greggs outlets in Portland and Dorchester.

The nationwide bakery is well renowned for its pastries and quick bites to eat on the go.

Store manager Robson Brown told the Echo how much he had been looking forward to this day: "I've been excited, very excited.

"It has been a slow start but we are getting there.

"Everyone is pretty happy, the customers are buzzing as well that we are in the area now.

"It is ideal with Aldi just across the road they can go and get a sandwich from us then they can go and do their shopping."

The store will be operated by the chain's partner Euro Garages, which is the UK's largest operator of KFC, Greggs and Starbucks franchises.

The new Greggs outlet has replaced Sbarro pizzeria which suddenly shut its doors in August after being open for just over a year.

In a previous statement, a spokesperson for Greggs said: "We look forward to welcoming Greggs fans and new customers to come try our range of tasty bakes, hot drinks and sweet treats."
