A car has been left burnt out after catching fire on a key road.

Firefighters raced to Monkey's Jump Roundabout, on the A35, late on Saturday night after the Mini ignited.

A crew from Dorchester Fire Station attended the scene shortly before 9pm and, using breathing apparatus and a single hosereel jet, managed to put out the fire.

It is not reported that anyone was injured.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Fire Station said: "At approximately 20:48 a crew from Dorchester responded to a vehicle fire on the Monkey's jump roundabout.

"Crews used breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire."
