Police have confirmed the death of a man following a major emergency response at a block of flats in Weymouth.

Crews from the ambulance, fire service, and police were called to Overcombe Court at 1.01pm on Wednesday to a medical incident.

A heavy presence was witnessed at the scene and an air ambulance landed on the beach nearby.

Sadly, a man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man's family have been informed.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a request from the ambulance service at 1.26pm on Wednesday 23 November 2022 for assistance as it responded to a medical incident in Preston Road in Weymouth.

"Officers attended and road closures were put in place. Very sadly, a man aged in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been notified.

"The man’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 13.01hrs to an incident in Weymouth. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, a rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance.”

Crews from Dorchester and Weymouth fire station were called to the incident in order to assist the ambulance service.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeperson said: "We were called at 1:16pm today to assist the ambulance service with a rescue of a casualty from the roof of a building in Overcombe.  Crews from Weymouth and Dorchester were mobilised to the incident and still on scene now."
