• AS REPORTED in the Echo recently, there may be a possibility for the fire station to be relocated to Radipole Lane with facilities for community use on the premises.

On Tuesday June 17, there will be a COPS meeting at the Fiveways Centre at 7pm.

Representatives from the Fire Service will be at the meeting to discuss with members of the community what the public require from a community centre and it would be great if a cross section of the community (all age groups) could attend the meeting to put forward their positive ideas for the future needs of Westham regarding community use.

  • THE Friday Club from the Dorset Close community centre had a very pleasant trip to Salisbury Market last month.

The next outing is a visit to Weston-Super-Mare on the Saturday June 21.

The club are trying to do their green bit for the environment, they have acquired a green waste paper recycling bag and after each bingo session, all used books and raffle tickets are gathered up into the bag.

Dot says It is amazing how quickly they are filling it.

Maria is still hoping to acquire a karaoke machine so if anyone out there has one, please contact me, Erika Patterson in the first instance and I will pass the information on to her.

Both clubs are still hoping to get new members (not necessarily OAPs).

Pauline Haime is still having a table top sale at the Fiveways centre on the last Saturday of every month raising money for good causes.

  • SUE Edwards and myself recently successfully passed a course run by the Dorset and New Forest Tourism Partnership for Volunteer Leaders for major events taking place throughout Dorset.
