A COLLECTION of vintage cameras is expected to fetch more than £10,000 when they go under the hammer later this summer.

The collection, from a deceased estate near Swanage, was collected over the years by the owner who was a keen photographer.

He had a particular interest in 35mm single lens reflex (SLR) cameras including Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Kodak, Pentax and Rollieflex.

Dating from the 1930s through to the late 20th century, the cameras are each estimated to sell from £50 up to £2,000 when they are sold at Charterhouse Auction in Sherborne on June 1.

Auctioneer Richard Bromell said: “Despite most people using the camera on their smart phones there is still a huge number of people who prefer a traditional camera with a film.”

Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for their June specialist auctions including cameras, photography related items, coins, medals, stamps, antiques, classic cars and motorcycles.
