A POPULAR Dorset beauty spot will be closed to the public due to upcoming filming.

Durdle Door has been featured in movies such as Nanny McPhee, Wilde and Far From The Madding Crowd.

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, the tourist attraction is expected to be closed once again.

According to its owners, the Lulworth Estate, the Durdle Door car park will also be closed.

However, nearby beaches including the adjacent Man O’ War remain open as do the coastal paths.

Parking is available at Lulworth Cove Car Park, from where visitors can access Lulworth Cove and various shops and cafes.

In October 2022, landowner James Weld threatened to ban the BBC from filming at the picturesque location which had been used for the centenary episode.

Speaking at the time, he said: “When consenting to the use of Durdle Door for an episode of Doctor Who, the BBC decided not to include a proper description of what they intended.

“If we had known we would not have agreed, because of the encouragement that this may give to some of our visitors to put themselves in a dangerous position, the consequences of which have been well documented.”

It is unknown what is scheduled to be filmed at Durdle Door this week.
