One of Weymouth's oldest churches is planning a special celebration to mark the completion of several restoration projects.

St. Ann's Church at Radipole, Weymouth, which dates back to the 1200s, has had its tower and the bell repaired and is now able to call worshippers to join the service on a Sunday morning.

Other major works have been completed over the year and a weekend of events is planned for July 29 and 30.

Church warden for the past six years, Margaret Horton, said: "Some of our volunteers have done a magnificent job dismantling and rebuilding parts of our boundary walls.

"Together with the tower and bell restorations and replacement of two vandalised windows, we feel we have a very good reason to celebrate with the community."

On Saturday, July 29, Nigel Dilkes will be leading a flora and fauna guided walk around the churchyards at 10.30am, including a trail around some interesting graves. A short concert of music and readings given by locals will take place at 3.30pm.

On Sunday July 30, as well as the usual morning worship at 10.30am, there will be Sung Evensong at 3.30pm.

On both days, the church will be decorated with flowers and crafts and open from 10am to 5pm. Light refreshments will be available in the schoolroom opposite the church.

All are welcome to these events.
