The final countdown is on for one of Dorset’s favourite agricultural shows.

The Dorset County Show is set to take place this weekend across Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3.

This year is set to be jam-packed with a whole host of exciting new attractions as well as a new layout to help make the visitor experience even more enjoyable.

Show Organiser James Cox said: “The final countdown to the Show is so exciting. From our small team during winter to over 400 incredible people, mostly volunteers working hard to make the County Show happen. A green field site is transformed in just three weeks into a rural city.”

New attractions include the world’s largest monster trucks revving in with spectacular car-crushing stunts.

The Dorset Axemen will also be thrilling crowds with their fast and furious wood cutting demonstrations in the new woodland area.

Mounted pony club games and Shetland pony racing will feature for the first time in the new Hill Top Ring and in the new Heavy Horse Village, visitors will be treated to demonstrations enjoying a chance to get up close with beautiful shires.

At the heart of the show which has been running for more than 100 years is rural pursuits.

Visitors can enjoy close-up milking demos, sheep shearing displays, gun dogs in action and falconry.

There are also bees, rabbits, poultry, showjumping, thrilling scurry racing and elegant carriage driving.

A firm favourite is always the traditional spectacle of champion livestock from all over the country competing to be crowned Best in Show.

A huge homecraft marquee will also welcome exhibits of sewing to cooking plus a massive horticultural and floral tent.

Food and drink fans can take advantage of the all-new Food and Drink Area which is set to boast the best of British with a particular focus on Dorset produce, although visitors are invited to make use of the new picnic areas.

New this year is a Crafters’ Avenue, featuring displays of weaving, hurdling and more from Dorset’s finest craftspeople.

There will also be live music and a funfair at the event.
