The sunny and pleasant weather has been enjoyable over the past few weeks, however this is expected to change going into next week.

Temperatures across Dorset had risen into the high 20s following the September heatwave.

This weekend will see temperatures drop into the high teens across the county, with light rain forecast every day over the weekend.  

Here is what the Met Office is currently predicting for Weymouth, Dorchester and Portland this weekend.

Weymouth:

Saturday: Cloudy changing to light rain by late morning. Highs of 23C.

Sunday: Heavy showers changing to thundery showers by late morning. Highs of 21C.

Monday: Sunny intervals changing to light showers by late morning. Highs of 19C.

Dorchester: 

Saturday: Cloudy changing to light showers by late morning. Highs of 23C.

Sunday: Light rain. Highs of 21C.

Monday: Sunny intervals changing to light showers by late morning. Highs of 18C.

Portland

Saturday: Cloudy changing to light showers by late morning. Highs of 21C.

Sunday: Cloudy changing to thunder by late morning. Highs of 20C.

Monday: Sunny intervals changing to light showers by late morning.Highs of 18C.

Deputy Chief meteorologist, Rebekah Sherwin, explains why thunderstorms are expected this weekend: “The notable change in our weather occurs through Saturday evening as increasingly humid air moves up from the south bringing thunderstorms and heavy downpours.

“These heavy showers and thunderstorms will spread across much of the UK through the day on Sunday with nowhere immune from the chance of seeing them.”
