A YOUTUBE star specialising in football content has made a video highlighting his trip to Bridport.

Matt Smith, known as Smiv, went to see Bridport FC in their fixture at St Mary's Field against Crediton on Saturday September 9, vlogging the 'blockbuster game' for YouTube.

In the video, the content creator stops to visit Lyme Regis before attending the game. Matt and his wife stop off at the beach and an antiques shop, before admiring the beach huts along the seafront.

Matt, 38, has been a video producer and content creator for 15 years goes into detail on his drive to Bridport, mentioning Dorset's Area of Outstanding Beauty.

The star then went on to give a brief history of the club to his 140k YouTube followers.

When at the game, he enjoyed a cheese and onion roll and watched an impressive display from the Bees, who ran out as 6-3 winners.

Speaking to the News, Matt explained what drew him to Bridport.

He said: "I just happened to be in the area at the time of celebrating my eighth wedding anniversary with my wife.

"Every time I travel it's a good excuse to check out teams I wouldn't normally be able to see easily,"

Matt and his wife, who live in Essex, stayed in a treehouse in the area for two nights, travelling back home on the Sunday.

Matt admitted that he 'didn't stay too long', but spoke positively about the county: "We really liked it down there. The people were friendly and there's plenty to do, just a shame our two children missed out!"

The YouTuber has ranked more than 125 grounds for his series, which is now in its eighth season, and rated the Bees facilities with four stars.

Matt talked about what was so special about St Mary's Field.

He said: "It's easy to weigh up what looks and feels good about each club. I'm a huge non-league football fan and it's the reason I run this series, to give to little guys a chance to be seen and heard.

He added: "I always rate things relatively to the level a club is at and having seen plenty of Step 4/5/6 clubs I was really impressed with the facilities down at St Mary's Field."
