A Blandford based brewery are to donate half their net sales from its pubs in a charity day.

Hall and Woodhouse (H&W) are set to donate 50 per cent of their sales generated from its Managed Houses on Tuesday, November 14 to select charities as part of its 2023 fundraising programme.

Already raising £300k for local causes this year, a spokesperson for H&W expects the activities to result in a donation of at least £70,000.

The funds from the day will be split between the mental health foundation, Mind, the British Red Cross Disaster Fund Appeal.

As part of its fundraising activities, H&W were the headline sponsor and bar operator of Teddy Rocks, a three-day music festival that helps fight children’s cancer, as well as providing support for families affected. Overall, the sponsorship donated to the festival was just under £140k.

Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Our purpose is to make people’s day and enrich our communities, whether it's through a fabulous guest experience at our pubs, or our involvement with local fundraising. It’s a privilege to support charities and the vital projects that make such a difference.

“While we enjoy annual events that provide direct funding for local people and good causes, we’re also aware of the need for urgent support happening across the country, and the world. We recognise that it’s our duty to do all we can to help where necessary,” he added.

Earlier this year, H&W also ran the bars at Dorset’s Tank Museum ‘Tankfest.’ Around £18k was donated to the museum to help preserve its collection of military paraphernalia and vehicles.

Other activities throughout the year included sponsorship of Wimborne Folk Festival, Weymouth Seafest and Dorchester Literature Festival.

The H&W Community Chest will also be presenting its awards aggregating to £50k for local organisations early next year.

On passing a total of £300,000 to date, Mr Woodhouse added: “Raising such a significant sum with the rest of the year still to come is a huge achievement. We’re incredibly proud of the entire H&W Family and want to thank each and every member of the team for their efforts so far this year. We hope to surpass the 2022 total of £600,000, another step toward reaching our goal of donating and raising £1million per annum by 2027.”
