Looking for somewhere to grab a festive pint on Christmas day then look no further.

Here are five pubs in and around the Dorchester and Weymouth area that will be open for festive tipple or two on the big day.

Old Ship, Dorchester open 11am till 2pm

Why not dive in for a pint at one of Dorchester’s oldest pubs for a drink on Christmas Day. This recently refurbished family run pub is a grade II listed building right in the heart of the county town on High West Street.

Three Compasses, Charminster open 12 till 2

Situated in the Square in Charminster, this is a family owned free house dating back to 1747.

Run by the same family for the last 30 years the pub has an atmosphere that keeps true to a traditional pub life and several darts boards dotted around means a quick game can be had while sinking a pint.

Ship Inn, Weymouth open 10.30 until 4pm

Dorset Echo:

This dog friendly pub is situated right on Weymouth’s harbour and would be a perfect spot to meet friends and enjoy a drink whilst watching the Christmas Day harbour swim.

Boot, Weymouth open 12 till 2

Dorset Echo: The Boot Inn, Weymouth

An old fashioned and traditional boozer with a log fire serving a selection of real ales – something the pub is well known for by its loyal regular customer base.

It also offers up a charm of a bygone era with its low ceilings and can call itself one of the oldest buildings in the town dating back to the 14th century.  

The King’s Arms, Weymouth open 10pm till 2

Dorset Echo:

Situated on the other side of the harbour to the Ship Inn this would be another ideal spot to watch the harbour swim.

Known for a great atmosphere and log fire this pub on the historic South Harbour is worth a visit.

Cove House Inn, Portland open 12pm until 2pm

This 18th century pub on the isle is perfect if you want a sea view with your pint. Situated on the seafront at Chiswell overlooking Chesil Beach.

With a log fire it is a great place to wrap up warm and watch the waves crash into the beach.
