A FESTIVAL celebrating local musicians of all abilities will be celebrating its 30th year in 2024.

Weymouth and Dorset Music Festival, which takes place on Saturday, March 2, is a non-competitive and all-inclusive day of music celebration.

More entries are being sought for the festival which serves as 'a platform for live performance'.

Anyone who plays a musical instrument or sings, either as a soloist, a duet, a group or in a choir is invited to take part.

The festival aims to provide a positive, friendly and encouraging environment for performers of all ages and abilities.

There will be verbal and written comments giving friendly and practical advice, and the opportunity for young and amateur musicians to share their skills and enjoyment with others without fear or intimidation.

Entrants have the rare opportunity to perform their music in front of an audience – many for the first time – and get feedback from a highly qualified and friendly adjudicator.

The Festival provides a whole day of music, from 9 am through to 5 pm.

Organisers are hoping to attract an audience for performers of all ages to experience playing to a crowd.

Members of the public who are not performing are welcome and encouraged to enjoy a full day of very varied music, from Bach to Bacharach.

Light refreshments will be available.

Tickets are available at the door for just £5 per person, or £8 for two people together.

Accompanied children are admitted free of charge.

There is not long left to get entries in with a deadline of February 1 fast approaching.

The festival will be held at St Aldhelm's Church and Centre in Spa Road, Weymouth and entrants will be invited to perform in a concert in which cups will be presented on Friday, March 8.
