A group which looks after people on nights out have been supporting schoolchildren with their studies.

The Weymouth Street Pastors are a group of volunteers that can be found out and about on Friday and Saturday nights around Weymouth town centre – looking out for vulnerable people and handing out lollipops.

The group are there to care, to listen and to help anyone that may need it - and Street Pastors actually feature as part of the GCSE RE syllabus.

The night-time volunteers visited Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester to support year 9 students with their RE studies.

A spokesperson for the pastors said: “As Street Pastors, our young people are really important and we are delighted to have this opportunity to work with these students.”

The volunteer group previously visited the school in December to work with sixth form students and spoke about staying safe on a night out.
