MORE than 350 trees have been planted at a Weymouth green space ahead of the spring season.
Volunteers headed to Tumbledown Community Farm, just off Radipole Lane in Southill to get involved with a tree planting event.
Year six students from Southill Primary School were amongst the first who showed off their green fingered side, helping with the planting.
In all, Tumbledown has welcomed more than 50 volunteers to help plant trees - as well as Southill, students from Westfield School and Weymouth College have attended, as well as clients from the Lantern Trust.
Chair of Environment and Services Committee, Cllr Ryan Hope says: “It’s great to see so many people getting involved and volunteering in the recent tree planting events at Tumbledown.
"Planting more trees is great for people, planet, and the wildlife they will one day support, and supports Weymouth Town Council’s commitment to tackling climate change.
“If you would like to get involved in planting more trees at Tumbledown, we are looking to welcome more people into this great community space to help out over the next few weeks.”
