A Weymouth community group is having a ‘massive spring sale’ to raise vital funds.

The Veterans Hub on Portland Road will be hosting a jumble sale on Saturday, March 2, from 10am at its community café.

The sale comes amid fears that the Veteran’s Hub could close ‘any week’ due to funding struggles and the fact that that the demand for its services has ‘gone through the roof.’

There will be a wide selection of clothing, shoes, bric-a-brac and toys set up on tables for people to purchase through donations.

The hub will also be selling homemade banjos, cakes, tea and coffee to keep people refreshed whilst they browse.

The Veterans Hub was set up around eight years ago as a community project, with the intent of providing a safe and secure location for veterans and their families to come together in an environment that would enable them to socialise in a non-clinical setting in order to provide peer to peer support for each other.

However, the hub is not only for veterans, anyone can drop in if they are struggling or even just to socialise.

In the event of bad weather, the event may be rescheduled, and any changes can be seen on the groups Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/vhcommunitycafe.
