Residents at a Chickerell nursing home have donated cloths, towels and blankets to help keep monkeys warm.

Residents and staff from the Queen Charlotte Nursing Home visited the primate sanctuary, Monkey World – Ape Rescue Centre, near Wool, to hand over the items.

These included old tablecloths, duvet covers, sheets, towels, pillowcases and blankets which the monkeys can use to build nests and keep themselves warm.

A spokesperson for Queen Charlotte Nursing Home said: "The activities team took a few residents from Queen Charlotte Nursing Home to meet some amazing staff from Monkey World, to make a donation from the Kingsley Homes in the south.

"We donated old tablecloths, duvet covers, sheets, towels, pillowcases and blankets to Monkey World in Dorset, which the primates will use for enrichment and to make nests with, to keep themselves warm and comfy through the nights. It's all part of our nature and kindness campaigns.

"It was a very heart-warming afternoon for our lovely residents."
