Students from Weymouth have been treated to a series of educational science shows - a first for the town.

Wey Valley Academy has become the first school in the Weymouth area to host The Royal Institute of Chemistry.

The institute is the largest national provider of science shows for schools and boasts a wealth of experience in making science for students engaging and fun.

Pupils from years 7 and 8 experienced two shows throughout the day that were jampacked with experiments, explosions, and hands on participation by the students.

A third show was also put on for the local community to enjoy in the evening.

A spokesperson for Wey Valley Academy said: "The students all were amazed by the activities which were led by one of the Royal Institutes lecturers.

"The community show was also a sell out and full of engagement."

"Individuals made comments such as it was filled with 'brilliant experiments that we might try at home' Really enjoyed it' and 'it was spectacular, loved it and amazing."
