A new folk fiddle group is to perform songs from Dorset’s musical heritage.
The Dorset Fiddlers, a new group of folk musicians who celebrate and promote the instrumental tune traditions of the county are holding their first performance in Poundbury.
Taking place at the Brownsword Hall in Pummery Square, the concert will start at 8pm on Saturday, March 16.
Using original source material from archival manuscripts dated to the nineteenth century, including folk music known by Thomas Hardy as well as newly penned tunes, the fiddle-playing ensemble will weave together a variety of music in an array of contemporary arrangements from minuets and waltzes to jigs and reels.
Tickets are available on the door from £12 for adults and £8 for children.
