A DORCHESTER pharmacy has been granted planning consent to install a 24-hour prescription ‘robot’.
The Victoria Park pharmacy in Maud Road will replace one of its front windows with the device, allowing customers to collect their prescriptions day and night.
It is believed to be the first of its kind in the area.
An extension to the rear of the premises has also been approved to allow more room to prepare medicines and to add to the existing consultation space, achieved by demolishing an existing garage and hard standing.
The pharmacy, which has been at the site for over thirty years, says its annual prescription numbers have more than doubled in the last two years with it also offering healthcare services from its cramped consulting room.
The extension, as well as adding to consultation space and for preparing prescriptions, will also give extra space for staff facilities.
