A coffee morning will be held in Weymouth where people can access information about maternal mental health.
Dorset HealthCare NHS Trust are inviting mums/mums-to-be, partners and family members to a coffee morning at the Nautico Lounge in Weymouth on Wednesday, May 1, from 10am to 12pm.
The event will be held in recognition of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, running from Monday, April 29 to Sunday May 5.
The weeklong campaign started by the Maternal Mental Health Alliance is dedicated to talking about mental health problems before, during and after pregnancy.
Attendees will be able to access information about maternal mental health, extending beyond postnatal depression and covering other conditions such as baby loss, birth trauma, OCD, psychosis, and anxiety disorders.
People can also meet the service team and learn what support is available in their local area.
A spokesperson from the Maternal Mental Health Service at Dorset HealthCare said: “Having a baby and becoming a parent is a life-changing experience which can be wonderful in many ways, but it can also come with challenges.
"Untreated perinatal mental health problems have a wide range of effects on the mental and physical health of women, their babies, partners and loved ones.
"The human and economic costs of untreated perinatal mental health problems is significant, meaning it is vital for those in need to access appropriate support."
