Part of a Weymouth road will be temporarily closed while essential maintenance works are carried out overnight.

Chickerell Road will be shut from its junction with Abbotsbury Road for a distance of approximately 525 metres in a westerly direction.

The closure will come into operation on May 22 and it is anticipated that the works will be completed by June 5.

The works will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

There will be a temporary clearway on Chickerell Road between no. 429 and no. 481 to prevent vehicles from stopping, except those associated with the works.

The temporary traffic order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
