A POLICE community support officer is cycling from Weymouth to Barcelona - again.

PCSO Ade Walker embarked on a similar journey with friend Craig Barter in June 2006 to meet girlfriend Hayley Clark.

Now the safer neighbourhood officer from Weymouth is repeating the feat on his own to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation.

PCSO Walker set off from Weymouth Police Station for St Malo in France this week, for the gruelling 700-mile solo ride.

PCSO Walker, a former hotel worker and a keep-fit fanatic, plans to cycle more than 120 miles a day during the six-day effort. He will cross the Pyrenees - the mountain range dividing France and Spain - before arriving at his final destination in Barcelona on Sunday.

PCSO Walker said: "I am a keen cyclist but this is my toughest challenge to date.

"I know that cycling alone can, at times, be demoralising but I intend to focus on the main reason for doing the ride - to raise money for the British Heart Foundation - and being reunited with my family when I eventually arrive in Barcelona. I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to tell."
